Gray Wolves!

There has been some controversy because of the gray wolves. The gray wolves have been endangered since 1960, but in 1973 they made a recovery because of the Endangered Species act. Currently there are around 5,500 gray wolves in the USA. They used to live in several biomes including the tundra, mountain areas, forests, grasslands, and deserts all around the USA. Right now they live in a variety of different biomes and all over the mainland of the USA, but they are most commonly found in Minnesota, Montana, Michigan, Idaho, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. I think they should be kept on the list because they could go extinct if they are taken off, and they are good for the ecosystem and give life to many other species. I also think they should be taken off because farmers and hunters are both unable to kill the wolves because they are on the list and since they kill the livestock and animals that the hunters would usually hunt, that’s bad for them and for us because we would  have less food. Hamilton!!!!

Picture from Wikimedia Commons

This summer I went to NYC!! While I was there I was lucky enough to see Hamilton: An American Musical. It was the best day of my life, and it was worth every penny. I saw it with my dad. The day before I saw Cats with my mom. If you are wondering what Hamilton is, it’s a musical about the founding father Alexander Hamilton. He was never president, but was very important in the founding of our country. I REALLY recommend you listen to it. It is explicit so get parents permission. My favorite song is probably The world was wide enough. You will learn SO much.

Stranger Things!!

Since I have been getting so many comments about Stranger Things, I thought I would write a post about what it is. Stranger Things is a Netflix TV show about Will Byers, who goes missing. He is abducted by an alien called the Demogorgon. A bunch of other weird things happen in the show while his friends try to find him. I recommend you watch it if you don’t mind gore, or scary things. Make sure to get parents permission before watching because it is TV-14. I hope you like it!!

Pollution!!

The effects of acid rain. For more information about pollution go to https://greentumble.com

A pollutant is an unwanted chemical source that is infecting things like plants    and water, and these can mess up whole ecosystems. In my class, we are learning about 3 pollutants, acid rain, road salt, and fertilizer. Acid rain can kill the plants that humans and the animals eat, so the humans and the animals will starve and die. Road salt can dissolve into water and go into the road side. It then can kill plants, and run off into streams and too much salt can kill the fish. If the fertilizer runs off the crops, and into water, the water will become toxic and can’t be used. We are testing to see which pollutant damages rye grass the most. My prediction is that the road salt will damage the most. I think this because I know too much salt can do a lot of damage. If a human eats too much salt they will die, so I can imagine that this will do a lot of damage to the grass. I would recommend that you try and use less fertilizer or none at all, so it doesn’t run off your plants. Try to talk with your schools principle and get them to stop using road salt, or maybe your towns mayor. You can get them to invest in some of the more expensive chemicals. If you want to protect your plants from acid rain you can get a stand with a cover over it to keep the rain from getting in.

First Blog Post!

Hello! welcome to my blog. My name is Makenna and I am in 5th grade. One of my hobbies is cheer, and this is my first year doing it. I also LOVE Stranger Things. My favorite thing I’m learning about in school is adding and subtracting decimals. I am looking forward to blogging because I really enjoy writing, especially free writing, and I like the write about my opinions. I am wondering if my class will be able to write about whatever we want often.
